Who Are We
ShechterCare® was launched in early 2013 at 18 East 48th Street, suite 801 (at Madison Avenue) in NYC. Leaving NYC was a difficult choice, but work/life balance was being lost in the commute and stress of travel. When we left NY, the practice was handed to a clinician trained and employed by Cynthia J. Shechter, Owner of and Director of Rehab at ShechterCare® to ensure that patient care transition was seamless. The other practice still occupies ShechterCare's NYC space today.
At ShechterCare® we find it important to treat patients from pre-surgery throughout the care experience while attempting to prevent, and/or treat Lymphedema, helping to increase and regain mobility, reduce swelling, increase fluid flow, and manage any long term symptoms, recognizing that life will and SHOULD get in the way.
Our NJ Practice has a comfortable, home-like environment where patients receive one-to-one therapy sessions. It is outfitted with an excellent clinical and administrative team, private treatment rooms, a small gym with modern strength building equipment, and ShechterCare®’s discrete and excellent bedside manner. We treat based on the individuals life, needs, etc and we will provide all the support you need to get back to the lifestyle you love.

LYMPHEDEMA
Lymphedema, the build-up of protein-rich fluid in the subcutaneous interstitial compartment occurs when either lymph fluid is impeded from flowing through the lymph vessels and lymphatic system, or when there is an excess of fluid that exceeds the carrying capacity of the lymph system. It collects in the subcutaneous and deep tissues causing swelling of the affected area and predisposes to chronic inflammation.
